Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) is a pioneering oil and gas producer whose operations date back to the 1950’s. ADMA-OPCO came into being as a locally incorporated company on 3rd July 1977. It replaced the London-registered Abu Dhabi Marine Areas Limited (ADMA Ltd.) which operated the Concession since 1954 on behalf of its Shareholders, British Petroleum (BP) and TOTAL.
The first oil discovery was made in 1958 in Umm Shaif field and the first oil shipment exported to the world market was on July 4th, 1962 through Das Island, which is about 180 kilometers far from Abu Dhabi. Das Island today is a burgeoning industrial complex with various oil and gas installations, tanker berths, storage and export facilities, an airport, medical facilities, modern accommodation and recreational buildings.
ADMA-OPCO is an asset-based organisation with a structure designed to improve efficiency, provide more focus on key missions, and create a performance-driven organisation.
ADMA-OPCO’s operations are centered in two major offshore fields--Umm Shaif, which lies some 150 kilometers north-west of the city of Abu Dhabi and Zakum which lies 55 kilometers south east of Umm Shaif. Zakum is one of the largest offshore oil fields in the world. The crude is collected from these fields using giant steel structures called supercomplexes, and then transferred to Das Island for processing, stroring and export.

ADMA-OPCO adopts the latest technologies in all its operations to optimise oil and gas production while maintaining high standards of HSE performance.
