NPCC, as a major EPC Contractor, has been involved with Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Sector since 1973. It has forged strong relationships with most of the major international Oil Companies, founded on its proven track record of trust, dependability, quality, safety and customer satisfaction. In pursuing excellence, NPCC in 1994 certified its Quality System to ISO-9001( Lloyds Register of Quality Assurance) and became the first offshore construction company in the Eastern world to receive this stringent version of Quality System. NPCC received several awards from international institutions for its excellent safety record such as, the British Safety Council Sword of Honour in 1989 for being one of the top 30 safest companies in the world and the Major Offshore Contractor 1999 Safety Award (the first year of award scheme) by “ International Pipeline and Offshore Contractors Association (IPLOCA)”. NPCC HSE-MS meets with local and international safety standards and their performance has been commended by many of their clients.
Building on the solid foundation of achievement in its domestic market, NPCC ventured into the more competitive arena of the international market winning major offshore EPC contracts for design, engineering, construction, installation and commissioning of Oil, Gas and Petrochemical facilities involving heavy structures, topsides, pipelines and all associated works.
Today NPCC is considered one of the major Onshore EPC contractor in the U.A.E. and a leading Offshore EPC contractor in U.A.E., Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, India and other neighbouring Gulf and Middle Eastern countries.
NPCC’s main goal is to continue to identify and serve the needs of the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industry of Abu Dhabi and the region in both Onshore and Offshore construction fields by offering tried and proved competency, based on practical experience.
NPCC, A LEADER IN CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
Birth and Growth of NPCC:
The NATIONAL PETROLEUM CONSTRUCTION COMPANY (NPCC), a Public Joint Stock company, was established in April 1973.
NPCC was initially established to provide a facility for the fabrication of steel structures required by the onshore and offshore Oil and Gas production industry. NPCC onshore marine base with fabrication yard and load out facility was located on Sadiyat Island, 3 km east of the city of Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. In 1978 NPCC expanded its operation by setting up a custom built pipe coating facility at the yard, followed in 1979 by the successful start-up of an offshore operation providing marine spreads for Pipelay, Installation and Hook-up works utilizing the Pipelay Barge PLB-648 and Jack-up Barge SEP-250.
In 1983, NPCC upgraded its offshore construction capability with the acquisition of specially built Derrick-Lay Barge (DLB- 1000), and two Jack-Up Barges SEP-350 and SEP-150 for offshore maintenance and hook-up works. In 1986, NPCC acquired the Heavy Lift Ship (HLS-2000) and Launch Barge (LB- 1) followed by the purchase of another Derrick-Lay Barge (DLB-750) in 1993, thus augmenting NPCC’s lifting and launching capabilities of heavy structures and providing complete service to the international offshore industry.
Presently, NPCC owns and operates a modern marine fleet of 13 construction barges, capable of lifting single structures weighing up to 2,550 tonnes and laying submarine pipelines up to 60” in diameter.
In 1986, with the intention of serving the Petrochemical Industry, NPCC ventured into manufacturing Storage Tanks & Spheres for storing various types of petroleum products such as; liquid sulphur, water, diesel oil, crude oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), etc. Recently, NPCC has successfully completed the design and construction of 23 Nos. of fixed and floating roof storage tanks for Ruwais Refinery Expansion Project and Liquid Sulphur Storage Tanks for Onshore Gas Development (OGD-II) Project.
The dynamic growth of NPCC since its inception and its achievements over the years, have placed this national Company in a league with major international EPC contractors involved in the development of the offshore and onshore Oil and Gas Industry.
In 1992, NPCC expanded its engineering capability for designing offshore facilities, loading terminals, storage tanks, pressure vessels and pipelines. Presently, NPCC has over 400 dedicated engineering staff to support the ongoing operations. The design team is fully equipped with latest state-of-the-art computers/softwares to meet engineering challenges.
In 1994, NPCC constructed its new facilities. NPCC’s modern fabrication & pipe coating yard, marine base and load out facility is located at Mussafah, 35 Km away from Abu Dhabi City, over an area of over a million square meters including offices and accommodation buildings. The new yard is capable for fabrication of up to 67,000 tons of steel per year.
In 1996, a modern fabrication facility for fabrication of Pressure Vessels was added which is capable of manufacturing 6,000 tons/annum Pressure Vessels of various types in thickness up to 160 millimeter by hot rolling and 100 millimeter by cold rolling, in diameter from 600 millimeter to 6000 millimeter. The products manufactured at this facility are; Pressure Vessels, Slug Catchers, Separators, Columns, Towers, Scrubbers, Evaporators and other related equipment covering Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel Material. The new state-of-the-art Pressure Vessels Manufacturing Facilities are accredited by ASME to use “U”, “U2”, “S” and “R” Stamps.
Today, NPCC, as an established global construction company, provides to Clients total Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services in the development of offshore and onshore Oil and Gas fields for the Arabian Gulf and the International markets.
ONSHORE PROJECTS
In addition to Storage Tank construction, NPCC have successfully forayed into onshore projects for Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals. NPCC has successfully completed several mega onshore projects for ADCO, GASCO & TAKREER.
EMIRATIZATION
NPCC, a member of the General Holding Corporation (GHC) has taken its drive towards Emiratization and continues to do so. NPCC offers excellent opportunities in various fields for qualified national candidates.
