INTRODUCTION
The Supreme Petroleum Council (SPC) was established by Law No. I on June 5, 1988. The Council formulates and oversees the implementation of Abu Dhabi's Petroleum Policy.

The SPC was restructured according to Emiri decree No.12 on June 29,2004 and updated with Emiri decree No.8 on April 19,2005 with the appointment of new members to the council.

According to Article 1 of each of the two decrees the council is now structured as follows:
