ADNOC TO BE PRIMARY SUPPORTER OF SOGAT 2018

I have pleasure in drawing your attention to SOGAT 2018 (www.sogat.org), that focuses on Efficient and Cost Effective Sour Gas Treatment and is taking place in Abu Dhabi next month supported by the ADNOC group.
Why choose SOGAT over other regional events?
The primary reason is that for 2018 , SOGAT is the only specialized event that ADNOC are fully supporting and are sending a delegation of 200 technical staff to the event. Also we are mounting an extensive media campaign to attract participants more so than before given the recent announcements on the UAE North West sour gas developments. So as a participant this gives you the optimum opportunity to interface with all your peers under one roof.
The SOGAT Workshops are to be delivered by the world’s leading experts
Not only have the workshop timings been extended for greater in depth understanding but they are more practical in content than previously , provide ample opportunity to share and discuss technical issues that may be impeding your work programme and are delivered by leading trainers beginning with Egbert van Hoorn for the Amine Treatment Workshop
The SOGAT conference programme has better and more practical content.
Our active and influential advisory committee have individually assisted in selecting the list of presentations in the conference programme and we have also asked them to check all submitted presentation abstracts to ensure the quality of the content is technically appropriate and sales pitch free.
and the Conference Presentations are invariably based on relevant case histories.
Over 70% of the presentations are from regional operators and the debate on their findings will attract a far superior level and number of interested delegates both locally and internationally.
All delegates are encouraged to visit all stands to interface with exhibitors.
There will be new exhibitors at SOGAT 2018 and in some cases they will be launching new products dealing with pertinent sour hydrocarbon issues. Also we encourage delegates to visit with exhibitors by giving them an exhibition passport which after discussion with exhibitors they stamp same and it is entered into a prize draw at the end of the event
I look forward to your response to this invitation for you and your colleagues to attend SOGAT 2018 given your interest from my previous email and should you have any questions , please do not hesitate to contact us.
With kind regards,
Neha Malhotra

Masdar to Install Rooftop Solar PV Systems at Khazna’s Masdar City Facility

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 4 March 2018 – Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, a subsidiary of the Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala), today announced that it will install a 290-kilowatt (KW) solar photovoltaic (PV) system to serve the facility of Khazna Data Centres (Khazna) in Masdar City.

In the presence of Khaled Al Qubaisi, Chief Executive Officer, Aerospace, Renewables and Information Communications Technology for Mubadala, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, and Hassan Al Naqbi, Chief Executive Officer of Khazna, signed a collaboration agreement on the project, aimed at further advancing Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a hub for renewable energy and clean technology.

Under the terms of the agreement, Masdar’s Energy Services unit will install a solar PV system on the car park roof at Khazna’s Masdar City facility. The project will serve as a pilot for additional sustainable initiatives at both Khazna facilities in the future.

Khaled Al Qubaisi, CEO for Mubadala Aerospace, Renewables and ICT, who oversees both Masdar and Khazna, said: “The UAE is committed to building a sustainable nation of the future, and pursuing bold ambitions – aiming to achieve 27% clean energy over the next three years as part of the UAE 2021 Vision. Mubadala and its subsidiaries are committed to supporting this vision, and are always looking at ways to adopt clean energy technology. This project between Masdar and Khazna is another step forward for our sustainability plans, with more projects like this to come in future.”

Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi said: “This partnership is an example of the synergy between Mubadala’s subsidiaries and capitalises on Masdar’s holistic expertise in renewable energy. It also shows our commitment to helping the tenants of Masdar City access the commercial benefits of clean technology by reducing their utility bills.”

Highlighting how this agreement fits into the long-term strategy of his company, Hassan Al Naqbi added: “Data centres have significant power consumption needs, and this new initiative represents a first step in Khazna’s long-term strategy of becoming a greener, sustainable facility. Not only will this support our environmental priorities and commitment to social responsibility in Abu Dhabi, it also makes commercial sense for our company and our end users — by increasing energy efficiency and lowering costs.”

Khazna, the only dedicated commercial wholesale data centre provider in the UAE, safeguards mission-critical data using the highest levels of security and operational reliability. They provide industry benchmark levels of power supply and cooling services to better serve the growing need for data centre operations in the UAE and wider region.

With additional operations at Meydan, Dubai, Khazna is one of the largest data centre infrastructure operators in the Middle East and North Africa. The company is currently in the process of expanding its capabilities across both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Once completed in 2019, these will include a total built-up area of around 31,000 square metres over the existing facilities and deliver over 24 MW of IT load.

Their Masdar City data centre is designed to be 40 per cent more energy efficient than a typical data centre in the UAE. The new facilities will also target a Pearl 3 rating as per the Estidama system, the Abu Dhabi’s Department of Urban Planning And Municipalities’ green building code.

Besides being a global player in the deployment of utility-scale renewable energy projects, Masdar is also one of the world’s largest developers of off-grid solutions. At Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) in January, Masdar announced that it had completed the installation of nearly 20,000 solar home systems in more than 1,000 rural villages in Morocco. Masdar’s off-grid projects span the Pacific, the Caribbean, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions.

The total generating capacity of the renewable energy projects in which Masdar is developing and investing globally is around 3 gigawatts (GW).

Masdar supporting UAE drive to become one of the most innovative countries in the world

Abu Dhabi, UAE, February 25, 2018: As the UAE marks Innovation Month in February, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company Masdar is accelerating the commercialisation of clean technologies at home and abroad.

SUPPORTING THE NATIONAL INNOVATION STRATEGY

Established in 2006 to help maintain Abu Dhabi’s leadership in the global energy sector, while supporting the diversification of both its economy and energy sources for the benefit of future generations, Masdar has more than a decade of innovation to its name.

This has inspired others to embrace clean technology, a fact highlighted at the recent World Government Summit in Dubai by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, who described Masdar City, Abu Dhabi’s flagship sustainable urban community, as “an example of innovative technologies brought to life”.

Masdar’s commitment to advance clean technology complements the National Innovation Strategy (NIS) launched in 2014 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The strategy prioritises the seven sectors of water, technology, renewable energy, health, space, education and transport, with the aim of making the UAE one of the world’s most innovative nations by 2021.

“Innovation is at the heart of our mission to bridge the gap between our present-day economy dependent on fossil fuels and the future energy economy,” said Bader Al Lamki, Executive Director of Clean Energy at Masdar. “We take techniques proven in the laboratory into the field to help attract investment, and we deploy advanced technologies at scale to help further optimize their cost and operational efficiency.”

AT THE FOREFRONT OF SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY

In keeping with the aims of the National Innovation Strategy, Masdar is positioning itself at the forefront of sustainable mobility.

According to a white paper published by Masdar in collaboration with Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2018, global sales of electric vehicles could overtake those of combustion engine cars by 2040.

“Electric and autonomous vehicles, the Internet of Things, data analytics, blockchain and ‘smart roads’ will transform urban transport over the next two decades,” said Yousef Baselaib, Executive Director of Sustainable Real Estate at Masdar. “Developments such as Masdar City are bringing about the public-private collaboration needed to help deploy such innovations.”

The arrival of the first 10-passenger autonomous vehicle at Masdar City this summer will be followed by a fleet of up to seven more in 2019, providing emissions-free transport to visitors, workers and residents around the six-square-kilometre site. Masdar City will also soon trial its own Eco-Bus prototype, an electric bus designed and built locally.

Just as exciting is the planned opening of a hydrogen fuelling station at Masdar City in the first half of next year, only the second such facility in the UAE and the first in a community location.

Capable of topping up multiple fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) in minutes, the new station will manage fuel production on site, with hydrogen extracted from water using electricity.

NEXT GENERATION RENEWABLE ENERGY

Over the last decade, Masdar has built a portfolio of renewable energy world firsts. These include Shams 1 in Abu Dhabi, the largest concentrated solar power plant at the time of its inauguration in 2013; Gemasolar in southern Spain, the first utility-scale solar energy project to generate power 24 hours a day; and more recently, Hywind Scotland, the world’s first commercial-scale floating wind farm. The battery storage project Batwind is also being developed to store electricity produced by the offshore wind farm.

“Hywind Scotland uses the largest wind turbines ever designed to harness the strong winds more commonly found in deep water,” said Masdar’s Bader Al Lamki. “It’s capable of withstanding up to 160km/h winds and 8.2-metre-high-waves, and so far the project is performing well above target.”

Closer to home, a Masdar-led consortium is developing the 800 megawatt (MW) third phase of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai in partnership with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Electricité de France (EDF).

The first 200MW section of the solar PV power plant is due to come on stream in April, complete with solar panels that track the sun and custom-made robots designed to clean them without water.

“Innovation is at the core of our commitment to deliver cost-efficient, reliable clean energy,” added Al Lamki.

SUSTAINABLE WATER

Achieving genuine sustainable development requires innovation both in the supply of energy and in regulating energy demand. Water production in the Gulf States, a priority under the National Innovation Strategy, is extremely energy intensive, motivating Masdar and its partners to research more sustainable alternatives to seawater desalination technologies reliant on natural gas.

Near the port of Ghantoot, around 70 kilometres up the Abu Dhabi coast from Masdar City, five international companies have been testing various solutions as part of the Masdar Renewable Energy Desalination Programme.

These include solar-powered reverse osmosis, a technique where salt water is purified through membranes. A Masdar report published at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week on the results of the programme found that the solutions are up to 75 per cent more energy efficient than the thermal desalination technologies currently used in the UAE, delivering annual energy savings of as much as US$550 million.

INCUBATING INNOVATIVE BUSINESSES

Masdar City is a hub for around a dozen demonstration projects aimed at the long-term commercialization of advanced clean technologies. Helping to convert bold ideas into viable businesses today, while encouraging them to set up shop at the city’s burgeoning free zone, is the Catalyst, the region’s first sustainability-focused “start-up accelerator”.

The joint venture with BP provides selected applicants with capital that can be converted into equity should their business bear fruit over the long term.

According to the Catalyst’s CEO Cinar Kurra, board approval has already been granted for two projects, while three others are expected to receive the green light soon. The startups under evaluation include a sustainable logistics firm and a UAE-based green farming venture.

“Our vision is to help build a robust start-up ecosystem focused on sustainability in Abu Dhabi that is aligned with the UAE’s overall innovation mandate,” said Kurra. “The track record of Masdar as a global renewable energy leader, the experience of BP, the access to clean-tech partnerships provided by the Masdar Institute, and the support of the free zone at Masdar City are distinct advantages of the Catalyst’s business model.”

The Catalyst is further evidence that the results of Masdar’s investment in innovation are being brought back to the UAE, stimulating the homegrown business community taking shape at Masdar City, now numbering well over 530 tenants. It is little wonder that Masdar’s innovation strategy has caught the attention of visiting policy makers and heads of state.

TEN WAYS MASDAR IS INNOVATING FOR THE UAE

  1. Masdar has built a portfolio of world-first renewable energy projects over the last decade, including most recently the world’s first commercial-scale floating wind farm, Hywind Scotland; floating wind technology has the potential to be deployed in many deep-sea locations around the world
  2. In April, the first 200MW section of the 800MW Shua’a Energy 2 solar power plant will go on stream, complete with panels that track the sun and panel-cleaning robots that don’t need water
  3. With a world-class research institute at its core, Masdar City is a hub for innovation, home to around a dozen sustainability-related demonstration projects
  4. Masdar is a partner in energy storage, working with Statoil of Norway to develop Batwind, a lithium-ion battery storing power produced by the floating wind farm Hywind Scotland
  5. The Masdar Renewable Energy Desalination Programme is helping to commercialize more energy-efficient alternatives to seawater desalination reliant on natural gas
  6. A report published at ADSW 2018 showed that solar-powered reverse osmosis is a commercially competitive alternative to seawater desalination dependent on technologies currently used in the UAE
  7. Masdar is positioning itself at the forefront of sustainable mobility, recently announcing the winner of a competition to deploy autonomous vehicles at Masdar City (Navya Group)
  8. Masdar is supporting homegrown businesses, including the design team behind an Eco-Bus prototype due to begin trials at Masdar City
  9. Masdar is helping innovative businesses establish themselves at Masdar City through the Catalyst, the region’s first sustainability-focused “startup accelerator”
  10. Masdar is the principal funder behind The University of Manchester’s Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre; the centre is dedicated to promoting the commercial application of the nanomaterial graphene, which has numerous potential uses in the UAE and elsewhere

Oil and Gas Professionals Find Global Meeting Point in Abu Dhabi

ADIPEC Creates Opportunities to Make New Connections,
Drive Business Growth

UAE Capital is at Crossroads of Global Energy Industry

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 26 October 2017 – This year’s Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) will give oil and gas professionals an unrivalled platform to meet potential new business partners from around the world, organisers said today during the lead-up to the annual event.

From exclusive C-suite networking sessions in the VIP-only Middle East Petroleum Club, to a bespoke matchmaking concierge service that will pre-arrange highly targeted face-to-face meetings, ADIPEC will offer a wide range of carefully designed opportunities for visitors, delegates and exhibitors to make valuable new connections and drive business growth.

“ADIPEC puts Abu Dhabi at the crossroads of the global energy industry, bringing together more than 100,000 professionals from across the world, all wanting to move their business forward,” said Jean-Philippe Cossé, Vice President, Middle East – Global Energy at dmg events, which organizes ADIPEC. “When you come to ADIPEC, you know you are having the right conversations with the right people – whether that’s between top CEOs discussing markets and strategy, or a buyer and seller closing a deal on the exhibition floor.”

To support ADIPEC’s role as a meetings hub, recent editions have seen consistent development of features designed to help bring people together.

For senior government ministers and officials, as well as C-level attendees, the Middle East Petroleum Club is the exclusive VIP club for oil and gas decision-makers. It provides an environment for high-level private networking, first introduced in 2013.

For trade professionals, the biggest challenge can be to identify opportunities amid the vast scale of ADIPEC. Over four days, the event will attract an estimated 10,000 conference delegates and 100,000 exhibition visitors from around 135 countries, while 2,200 exhibiting companies are confirmed from more than 53 countries. Those numbers keep growing year on year, partly because ADIPEC keeps expanding in its scope. In 2015, the Offshore and Marine area was launched, while last year the Security in Energy event was added to the programme. This year the downstream oil and gas industries will be included for the first time, as part of the expanded conference programme covering both strategic and technical content for the sector. Each comes with its own conference programme and exhibition area, and attracts additional attendees.

With so much ground to cover, 2017 will see an expansion of ADIPEC’s Global Meetings Programme, which acts as a vehicle to drive bi-lateral trade as buyers and sellers from all around the world converge on the event. This bespoke networking and matchmaking service gives conference delegates, exhibitors and VIPs an efficient way to search for and connect with new and existing business contacts, and pre-arrange meetings either in a dedicated lounge or on exhibitor stands.

Each attendee at ADIPEC can upload a profile onto the Global Meetings Programme platform, including company and personal details, listing their areas of interest, and the programme will suggest possible meetings. Anyone attending ADIPEC can use the programme, although access will be higher depending on the type of badge a participant holds.

“The matchmaking concierge service organised around 600 meetings last year, a number we plan to more than triple to about 2,000 for 2017, and we have designed the system to make sure these are all high-value meetings for both sides,” said Jean-Philippe Cossé. “An important feature of the system is that, although initial matches are made by sophisticated algorithms, recommendations are checked and validated by a member of our specialised concierge team before passing them on.”

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and organised by the Global Energy division of dmg events, ADIPEC is one of the world’s leading oil and gas events, and the largest in Africa and the Middle East.

ADIPEC will be held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 13 to 16 November 2017.

ADIPEC 2017 Expected to See Increased Business for Offshore & Marine Services

Modest Spending Increase Forecast for Maintenance and Production

Significant Potential in Natural Gas, New Offshore Exploration and Production Opportunities in Eastern Mediterranean

Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Offshore and Marine industry is expected to see increased business at this year’s Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), with analysts predicting modest increases in spending for maintenance and production in the oil sector, and significant investment expected for new offshore natural gas projects in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Analysis by consultancy Douglas-Westwood has found that, although investment in new offshore production remains low, compared with pre-2014 levels, the outlook for maintenance, modifications and operations is ‘notably more positive’. Much of the rebound is caused by work orders, that have been delayed, coming back online.

Within the GCC area, 2017 has seen Saudi Aramco sign agreements with Abu Dhabi-based National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) to purchase four offshore platforms and associated equipment, as well as a separate deal for the supply of 17 offshore jackets – the steel frames that support the platform.

Globally, consultants Wood Mackenzie are predicting renewed exploration and production for deep-water projects, with efficiency improvements having lowered the breakeven price by 20 per cent in the past three years.

“We are seeing renewed optimism among companies supporting offshore production, with demand underpinned by an industry that is now more efficient, stabilising prices, and the need to meet anticipated rising demand,” said Ali Khalifa Al Shamsi, Al Yasat CEO and ADIPEC 2017 Chairman.

“ADIPEC supports this growth as a market where suppliers can network with purchasing decision makers and generate new business. Its comprehensive strategic and technical conference programmes provide an unrivalled opportunity for specialised knowledge exchange.”

Natural gas is a significant contributor to the positive outlook, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa, where Egypt is seeing around USD 27.3 billion worth of investments across the Zohr, North Alexandria and Noras gas fields, and 76 new upstream exploration concessions have been signed worth around USD 1.5 billion. Cypriot and Lebanese waters also offer fresh opportunities for offshore exploration and production in the Eastern Mediterranean.

As investment moves into the sector, new projects will create business opportunities at ADIPEC’s unique Offshore and Marine area, which returns in 2017 for its third year.

Set directly on the waterfront, adjacent to the main ADIPEC venue, it is held in a dedicated purpose-built exhibition and conference space, with product displays encompassing the full value chain, from rigs, vessels, ship building, and subsea drilling equipment, to certification, pipelines, mooring, and tools for reservoir production and mapping.

The display’s defining feature will be the temporary quay, with a series of state-of-the-art offshore vessels berthed directly alongside the venue, including a jack-up barge, high-speed craft and landing craft, tugboats, and platform supply vessels up to 70 metres in length. Visitors will be able to tour the vessels on display, seeing the latest evolution in marine engineering and technology first-hand.

Mohammad Rizal, Chief Operating Officer at UAE-based shipyard group, Drydocks World, says the unique venue is an ideal setting for offshore suppliers to demonstrate their achievements and generate new business.

“At ADIPEC 2017, Drydocks World intends to update the marine industry on the yard’s offshore capabilities, while showcasing the world-first cutting-edge projects completed in the yard that demonstrate our competency to execute large-scale projects with a proven track record of excellent HSEQ standards,” said Mohammad Rizal. “We look forward to taking our business further and discussing future possibilities during ADIPEC 2017.”

For 2017, an expanded conference programme will underpin continued efficiency, innovation, and growth, as well as offer insights into new opportunities.

The breadth and quality of ADIPEC’s conference schedule has long set it apart from its peers. This year’s Offshore & Marine programme will offer unrivalled opportunities to hear from leading executives and experts in their field, and will cover an array of important topics from both a strategic and technical perspective. There will also be a dedicated session on the Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre, and the processes available for resolving maritime legal disputes quickly and without unnecessary cost.

The specialised exhibition and conference area is expected to attract more than 15,000 visitors and 150 exhibitors. Companies with confirmed spaces include NPCC, Zakher Marine International (ZMI), Horizon Geosciences, Seajacks, Seacontractors, Seatrax, Guidance Marine, ADNOC, Khalid Faraj Shipping, Overseas Marine Logistics, Drydocks World – Dubai, and Maridive Group.

Panel discussions will be held over three days, covering future expectations and challenges, driving growth, and adapting to new market conditions. Confirmed speakers include senior executives from National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC), Wintershall, Cepsa Gas Comercializadora, McDermott, Foresight Group, Abu Dhabi Ship Building, Cyprus Hydrocarbons Company (CHC), Lebanese Petroleum Administration (LPA), Scottish Government Oil and Gas Taskforce, Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC), and ADNOC Logistics & Services.

Biggest Non-OPEC Oil Producers Look to Abu Dhabi for New Business

ADIPEC Experiencing Record Bookings from Russia and Central Asia

CEO-Level Delegations from Russia’s Top Oil and Gas Companies, National Pavilion More Than Five Times the Size of 2016

Growing Industry Seeks Greater Access to International Markets

Abu Dhabi, UAE  – Leading companies from the largest oil producing region outside OPEC, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), will be increasing their presence at this year’s Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), targeting the event as a hub for global deal-makers.

Two of Russia’s biggest oil and gas companies – Lukoil and Gazprom – have each confirmed substantial exhibition areas, with CEOs and other top-level decision makers leading their company delegations and taking part in strategic conference panels. They will be the biggest names among more than 30 Russian companies attending, many of them hosted at a Russian pavilion covering almost 600 square metres of exhibition floorspace – almost six times the size of last year’s 105 square metre pavilion.

They will be joined by resource owners from other CIS members, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, as well as by oilfield services companies from the region. Based in countries that were once part of the Soviet Union, they will be using ADIPEC as a gateway to international expansion.

“Russia is among the top 10 countries of the world in terms of oil reserves, and this has supported the growth of a highly sophisticated petroleum industry, from exploration and production, through to oilfield technology and services, transit, refining, distribution, and sales,” said Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov. “Russian companies are now actively expanding their international operations, and ADIPEC offers them access to global partnerships, including for new resources, new markets, and new investment.”

Alongside the big oil and gas producers, other well-known industry names attending ADIPEC include SCADTech, Revalve (PKTBA in Russia), Intra, Transneft Diascan, OZNA, GazNefteMash, and PTPA. The Skolkovo innovation, science and technology cluster, based just outside Moscow will also be an exhibitor.

Stretching from the edge of Europe, into Central Asia, and across Siberia into the Russian Far East, oil and gas projects in the CIS area have already attracted substantial investment from multinationals. Alongside the Western oil majors and supermajors, the region features a strong presence from other parts of Asia. Companies working in the region include Petronas from Malaysia, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Korea National Oil Corporation, and ITOCHU and INPEX from Japan.

As the industry moves beyond resource extraction, local NOCs and private oil companies are using their assets to move deeper into midstream and downstream sectors, as well as expanding beyond their borders.

Russia’s three largest operators lead this transformation. Rosneft, Lukoil and Gazprom now hold exploration, production and processing operations across the CIS and beyond, from Latin America to the North Sea, and from Africa to India and Southeast Asia. They have made significant investments in the MENA region, including in Iraq, Egypt and Libya, and are negotiating for projects in other countries. Lukoil has expressed interest in Abu Dhabi’s offshore leases when these are extended from 2018.

“ADIPEC is an essential destination for global oil and gas companies, so it makes sense that the big companies from the CIS come here,” said Ali Khalifa Al Shamsi, Al Yasat CEO and ADIPEC 2017 Chairman.

“We are located at the heart of the world’s most important oil and gas suppliers, so the biggest international customers, service companies, and investors, all come to ADIPEC, and they all bring their most senior people. We have a very strong presence from Asian markets, from India to China. ADIPEC is an opportunity to reach all of these of these markets and find new partners around the globe. Most importantly, the people who network at ADIPEC are the decision makers and they are here to do business.”

For companies from the CIS, partnerships to be found in Abu Dhabi can help drive the next evolution of their global business. While mainly driven by economic factors, diplomatic and political concerns are also motivating Russian businesses to look away from the United States or European Union. Cooperation with Asian partners, and with China in particular, is the most immediate priority.

China’s ambitious ‘New Silk Road’ project will improve trade links through Central Asia, with massive investment in new East-West land transport corridors passing through China, Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan, as well as Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey. The plan aims to revive the importance of historic overland links between East Asia and Europe, while also improving cross-border trade and investment between countries along the route.

For petroleum industries, new pipelines currently under construction between Russia and China are projected to add an extra 15 million tonnes of oil and 38 billion cubic metres of natural gas into the Chinese market per year. They are being built by ADIPEC-sponsor, the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). CNPC has oil and gas operations in all the main CIS producer nations, across the Middle East, and both North and Sub-Saharan Africa among its global operations, involved in production, oilfield services, and construction.

“Business and trade links across the region are extremely dynamic, and oil and gas businesses are highly interconnected,” said Christopher Hudson, President – Global Energy at dmg events. “When you look at recent deals, CNPC has signed a group of agreements with both Rosneft and Gazprom this year, covering upstream, midstream, and downstream operations. That’s why ADIPEC is so important. It provides a time and place each year where the giants of oil and gas come together, whether they are the established supermajors of the West or the emerging powers of the East.”

To be held under the theme ‘Forging Ties, Driving Growth’, ADIPEC 2017 is expected to host more than 10,000 delegates, 2,200 exhibiting companies, 900 speakers, and in excess 100,000 visitors from 135 countries.

ADIPEC will be held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 13 to 16 November 2017.
